Clash of Clans Sells 51% for $1.5 Billion to GungoHo and Softbank

Clash of Clans Sells 51% for $1.5 Billion to GungoHo and Softbank

Indeed, the top grossing app of all time (on iOS) has sold 51% of their company to Gunho and Softbank. GungHo was responbile for 20% of the purchase, while software represented the rest. Clash of Clans seized the number one spot for Top Grossing Apps on the App Store, followed by noneother than Candy Crush Saga, Hay Day, Puzzle & Dragons, and Pet Rescue Saga. This makes two games in the top five for both King and Supercell. Distimo reports that the market share distribution did not change compared to August, and that Apple’s App Store still commands 65% of market compared to Google Play’s 35%.   Since it was recently reported that Puzzle’s and Dragons rakes in $9 million a day, and Gree has acquired 20% of Cash of Clans which made $97 million in the past 3-months, I realize that this will have GungHo banking over $10 million a day a result of this new investment. 80% of Smartphones Unprotected from Malware and The History of Android [INFOGRAPHIC]

Fact of the matter is, according to Juniper Research nearly 1.3 billion smartphone devices (which includes smartphones, feature phone, and tablets) will have mobile security software installed by 2018. This could be due to the fact that consumers are just now becoming more aware of cyber attacks (especially on android) and are willing to start looking into having some type of security on their device(s). Juniper found that cyber criminals are indeed moving towards mobile devices vs continuing to focus their efforts on PC’s (yay for media producers like me). Trend Micro’s suspects that by the end of the year their will be more than one million malwares that have infected the market. If you thought that was bad.. Wait till you hear that only 39% of businesses actually have mobile optimized sites. Ouch. I would almost say I feel bad for them, if it weren’t for the fact that anyone who does...

92% of Smartphone Owners Use a Google App and App Annie Launches eBook Analytics and what is Kahuna?

Gmail, Google maps, Google Chrome, surely you have at least ONE OF THESE on your phone. I actually have all 3. It was also recently discovered by comScore that 92% of Smartphone Users have a Google Mobile product on their phones as well. Thanks to the folks at Statista we have this cool graph to share with you, take a look.   In other news, App Annie decided to get into the eBook business this week. Officially launching their very own ‘eBook Analytics  platform to help authors and publishers monitor the sale of their digital eBooks. It’s pretty comprehensive if I say so myself, I may just look into picking it up for my very own: App Launch Blueprint. There is one final thing I wanted to talk about, well it’s more of a company than a thing. A pretty cool company actually. They basically make it easier for marketers (like me) to engage with users through their very own ‘Engagement Engine’. It’s pretty far out, and I think...
