Fiksu reported yesterday that after a steady couple of months things appear to be heating up for mobile marketers. It found its Cost Per Loyal user Index reach a $1.50 (increase of 10% or .14 cents) over March’s $1.36. The App Store Competitive Index also rose 11% to 5.61 million daily downloads from 5.02 million in March. After digging into the Data Fiksu was able to conlclude a few things, which are: “First, the relentless industry investment in mobile by brands large and small that kept competition high throughout the month. Second, the industry’s smooth transition from Apple’s UDID to its new Advertising Identifier (IDFA) actually kept traffic stable...

Take that Samsung! It wasn’t too long ago when I upgraded from my Galaxy S (yes the first one). My God.. Worst. Phone. Ever. Seriously. I digress, HOWEVER it is evident that OTHERS in the UK also favor Apple’s devices over Samsung. Not even the new Galaxy S4 is able to topple Apple’s flagship smartphone (at least in the UK). While they may have had a killer promotional campaign, Samsung has failed to win over users of Apple’s iPhone 5 in the UK, at least that’s what Mobile Magazine reports. It was evident the iPhone 5 was the the UK’s most popular smartphone after uSwitch’s mobile tracker for May found...

Wouldn’t have seen that one coming. Especially not in the US. Which is why this is referring to Smartphone users in the UK. At this time last year Windows had 4.0% market share, and now has 8.4% according to a new report by Mobile Magazine. The study also revealed that Apple is responding to Android’s continued growth in the entry level smartphone markets, with their own competitive pricing of handsets making the iPhone 4, 4S and 5 among the UK’s six bestselling devices. Unfortunately (in Apples case) this did not prevent the YOY market share decrease by 5.3% to 28.7%. Android nonetheless maintained the lead in the UK, with...

Do you ever wonder how much money these guys at these big companies make? Would it surprise you that the one’s who make the most are probably people you’ve never heard of? Well my friends, TODAY – YOU are in for a treat (sort of). Snagged an interesting Infographic from the folks over at VB that shows the highest paying CEO’s in 2012. One thing that’s interesting (to me at least) is the continued transition of “Pay per results” salary that CEO’s are now tied to. Basically, back in 2009 CEO’s salary’s were tied to company performance by only 34.7% In 2012 however, (just 3 years later) we see that the...

The year is 2013, AND You STILL haven’t implemented a Mobile Strategy for your brand? Consider this for a moment: mobile phones will surpass desktops as the most commonly used device to access the web (this year). It’s also worth knowing that 57% of consumers will not recommend a business with a poorly designed mobile site. With that being said, there’s also a pretty big difference in consumer behavior on mobile vs. desktop and its critical to keep the simple stuff in mind (some of which we’ll cover in just a moment). So, let’s go ahead and get into this sucker as there’s kind of a lot to cover....

At least that’s what the analysts over at Freewheel said earlier this week. While Android may still have the lead on OS in terms of US and Global smartphone market share, more mobile video ad views took place on an iPhone 31.4% vs Androids 22.5% in Q1. According to FreeWheel’s latest report. iPad in particular accounted for 39.2% of video views with an emphasis on long-form content. In fact, 58% of ad views on the iPad were served as long-form content (over 20 minutes) for the quarter, compared to just 27% on the iPhone and 24% on Android phones. Researchers notes: “this reflects TV-style viewing habits on iPad versus...

So in today’s article we’re going to briefly go over the indexes from App Analytics company App Annie. While you can certainly find the FULL indexes for both the games and non-games, I will do my best to sum up the important stuff so you can get-on doing whatever you were doing (probably rushing to the closest bar to have the soup of the day – tequila). First, lets look at games. Across both iOS and Google Play we have Candy Crush continuing to lead the way with downloads, while Puzzle and Dragons is doing the same for Revenue. When looking at the charts below it is evident that...

For those of you who are already using this SDK in your app, this may be a nice little treat, or option you can now consider to monetizing your in-app-purchases. It is now available in 80 countries around the world, (with more to come I imagine) and it will work with all Android app and game purchases, including Nook (what’s that? ;)) purchases as well. As mentioned above, the features are made available through Fortumo which announced yesterday that is going to be partnering with Corona Labs. Fortumo specializes in one-click payments that don’t require users to enter credit card #’s (which none of us I’m sure would admit...

The time has (finally) come where you and your company have concluded that you need a mobile app. Being the smart marketer (or product manager) that you are, you’re already aware of the rich user experience that an app can provide to your customers, employees(colleagues), and maybe even clients. Now that you’re ready to get started, you’re probably asking yourself.. Where do I begin? Well in today’s article we’re going to talk about JUST that. More specifically, 3 key considerations to take with you as you begin this process. But BEFORE we get into that, let’s first acknowledge the 2 different ways that you can approach this. 1) You can...

Spotted by the folks over at 9to5 earlier yesterday. Kickfolio: a service that allows developers to offer demos of their iOS apps directly in the browser using an HTML5-based platform, announced it’s now allowing developers to embed their iOS apps directly in the Facebook news feed. In addition, the company has just raised over $1 million in seed funding and changed its name from ‘Kickfolio’ to “App.io”. To find out more about Kickfolio (now App.io) you can read this article which was previously written by MobileMinute on how awesome they are. As it stand, App.io currently has about 3000 developers signed up, most of which are using the service...
