Posted by on May 17, 2013 in Mobile | 0 comments

Just over a month after app discovery platform AppGratis was taken down from the Apple App Store for violating Apple’s guidelines, the service has JUST launched on Google Play. AppGratis which boasts more than 10 million users on iOS, was pulled by Apple for violating the regulation: “apps that could be confused for an app store”. That being said, AppGratis is now apparently on Google Play’s platform, let’s hope they don’t encounter the same issues. Needless to say, there was certainly an uproar of controversy and debate when AppGratis was taken down, AppGratis even launched a petition against the decision where it amassed over 950,000 emails showing ‘user support’ (950,000/10,000,000) doesn’t...

Posted by on May 17, 2013 in Android News, iOS Updates, Mobile | 0 comments

IDC’s latest numbers for Q1 of 2013 also show that of that, iPhone captured just 17%. IDC noted that both Android and Apple shipments combined increased approximately 59.1% YOY, totaling 199.5 million units to be shipped during the quarter. This is up from 2012’s 125.4 million. The report points out that iPhone’s had its “largest ever Q1 volume”. Despite the impressive numbers, Apple saw an overall decline among iOS usage as Android and Samsung led in both categories. When comparing the device share, iPhones represent 17.3% while Android loaded (samsung + more) devices had 75%. This is again, shipments not sales. At least in Tablet OS usage Apple continues...

Posted by on May 17, 2013 in Apple | 0 comments

While this is hardly news I care to write about at all, I only am because I just went to the Apple Store on Stockton and Ellis last Saturday and am likely going to GO BACK because my freaking’ iPhone 5 power button is broken (thanks Apple). Evidently they’re going to have to swap the whole device, got it covered so no biggy. First spotted by AllThingsD, Apple said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to be working with the city of San Francisco on a new Apple retail store at Union Square…. Our store on Stockton Street has welcomed over 13 million customers since it opened nine years ago,...

Spotted earlier by 9to5 who has been following reports all month on the Department of Defense and the process of approving iOS 6 for “non-classified communications and widespread use by government agencies,”. Today Apple has been officially granted approval. One thing that can’t help but cross my mind is: “Isn’t iOS 7 just around the corner? I mean, if it took them this long to get it approved and now it’s already out dated..” While both Samsung and Blackberry have been approved for some time it was in February that the US Defense Department confirmed its plans to open up their network to 100,000 new devices from both Apple...
