App Industry Trends | 3 HOT Trends going on RIGHT NOW.
It’s funny how I was just talking to my friend Isaac about this just yesterday.
Basically what I was saying was..
“I think that it’s such an exciting time to be alive, and especially in the mobile/app industry – and honestly, I think that the App Industry is really where the future of job creation will be.”
#1
..after reading a recent stat by the folks over at W3i it appears that the “App Economy” has actually ALREADY created nearly 500,000 jobs in the US since the inception of the industry back in 07′
Not to mention that developers (programmers/coders) are among the highest paid jobs. According to a survey from the staffing firm Robert Half International: mobile app developers can expect pay increases of 9% from the average of $92,750 to $133,500.
Additionally..
more employers are becoming more accepting of the use of mobile devices in the workplace and perhaps even profitable. Employee mobile device usage is expected to rise to 90% by 2014.
Some are referring to this as the, ‘BYOD era’ which stands for Brin your own device.
The battle continues with Mobile App Stores
The revenue from mobile app store purchases could increase from $8.5 billion (in 2011) to $46 billion by 2016, reports BusinessInsider. With Google Play, the Apple App Store, RIM, and Windows 8 Apps (soon to come) it’s said that..
“More than four years after Apple launched their App Store, mobile app stores represent some of the world’s fastest growing software markets and create must-build opportunities for many software companies.”
With the Apple App Store now having just approved their 1 millionth App Google Play is in hot pursuit, making tremendous headway over the last few months and actually – at one point – ‘catching up to the Apple App Store’ (when they had 700,000 Apps. On average Android apps only earn 24 cents per active user compared to $1 earned on iOS.
Look forward to my other article on the Apple App Store hitting their 1 millionth app.
Best,
Kevin
