Appfuel – Fueling Developers Success Since 2013′

Appfuel – Fueling Developers Success Since 2013′

Appfuel (formerly AppSpree) is a company that was forged on the foundation of culture, which is something I see as an especially important subject (as well as one that seems to rise to the top of discussion among founders and CEO’s I encounter) in the startup world quite often.

Upon discovering that CEO and Co-Founder Andrew Boos and Co-founder Alfred Kam had actually known each-other for more than 10 years, it was clear to me that this type of ‘cultural foundation’ had already been established, not to mention their network in China (Beijing – having been involved in an accelerator).  With a current team that has survived a couple pivots, and proven to be persistent despite obstacles (every start-up encounters), I can without-a-doubt say that Appfuel is a company you want to keep your eye on.

After all, when it comes to investing most look at these 3 things (in this order):

  • Growing Market
  • Team
  • & Technology

Everyone knows China is a growing market (a massive one at that).  The cultural foundation that has been laid throughout the organization is one some start-ups might consider modeling after.  The technology is undeniable.

..But, I guess I’m jumping the gun now aren’t I?

What technology?

Let’s start from the beginning.

Appfuel is a company that uses data to maximize the LTV (Lifetime Value) of each app, and that of your entire portfolio.  Appfuel leverages predictive analytics and user LTV forecasting to optimize the balance of user acquisition and revenue generation to maximize ROI.

In other words: Appfuel will simplify your app management and make it more profitable using numbers instead of gut instinct.

MobileMinute also had a chance to chat with Andrew Boos (CEO and Co-Founder of AppFuel) for a brief interview.

What’s the next Step for AppFuel?

“So, we’ve built a tool for apps of all sizes.  What we’re looking for right now is  that sort of – we call it ‘mid-tale’ group of app studios that we can on-board and get them to start using our product.  We have a good amount of interest, we actually just finished writing up a contract with Yetizen.

So we have a really cool founder’s package that we’re offering to all their portfolio companies, as well as any-one else we think is high quality as well.  What we need is basically our pilot cohort.

We can open this up to everyone, I don’t want to go too long-tail with it.  But we need a really good group of pilot users, we won’t take a margin from them we just want to help them grow.”

How many developers will you let into this closed beta?

“I’m thinking 25-30 people.”

How else would you describe what AppFuel offers?

“Well what we’re offering nobody has.  We equate it to – right now you kind of have to drive stick-shift;  you have to switch out networks as you grow, and  to match your needs you have to test out all these different providers.

With us, we give you a real-time adjustment of growth vs don’t.  And, on the back-end we monitor that, so we actually monitor that to make sure you’re getting the highest metrics you can on the user acquisition side and on the monetization side.  So, that’s more like an automatic car.”

If you’re looking to be one of the 25 or so developers to take advantage of using this awesome SDK and platform then you may just want to do that – sooner, than later.

As a closing thought on entrepreneurship, Andrew had a good nugget to share, which was:

“You can’t learn how to swim with-out jumping in the water.”
