MetroPCS Shareholders Approve Merger with T-Mobile
Earlier last month there was an announcement that T-Mobile would be acquiring 74% of MetroPCS’s shares for around $1.5 Billion. This was confirmed recently by both Bloomberg and Rueters. The original proposal had to undergo some changes in order to win over its critics, which included MetroPCS’s largest shareholder Paulson & Co.
To reiterate what was mentioned in the past, the merger will provide T-Mobile the ability to expand its new LTE network across the United States, allowing it to keep pace with Verizon and AT&T, as well as adding over 9 million MetroPCS customers to T-Mobile’s network.
