Read MoreEvidently Apple will be.. making some of its most popular paid apps free to Apple Employees this holiday season. If you’re an Apple Employee that’s just coming on board, not to worry – they’ll likely have a promo code for you too. On another note, Apparently over the weekend (Saturday, November 17th) there were some Fake ‘Apple’ apps that appeared on Google Play. I guess it just goes to show how easy it is to get an App on the Google Play Store. Seriously, if your App got rejected on Google Play I can’t imagine what that says about its quality. ..Back to what happened. For a brief time on Saturday a bunch of apps with commonly recognizable names like.. iWorkiLifeGarage Bandetc.. Was submitted by a, “Apple Inc.” You could tell immediately just by looking at the ratings that these Apps were not legit, and Google was sure to pick up on it quick enough to mitigate the damages of potential malware that could have been downloaded by...
Read MoreStrategy Analytics have just released a report with these key figures to take note of. First of all, the forecast said that there will have been more than 350 BILLION smartphone and tablet app downloads by 2017. The Apple Appstore accounting for 56% while Google Play accounting for more than 45% Between now, and 2017 Strategy Analytics said, “paid downloads will generate more than $57 billion globally. However it expects the paid app market to be in decline by 2017 as it forecasts free apps will represent more than 91 percent of all downloads by then.” Josh Martin, Director of Apps Research at Strategy Analytics had this to say, “Paid downloads remain an essential component of the app ecosystem,” “Paid downloads will remain an important way for smaller developers to monetize their efforts. For developers committed to paid downloads transitioning to tablets may be the smartest way to preserve the business model over the long term.” It is also believed that the average price...
Read MoreLast week as one of my 5 Best Apps of the week.. I featured an App called “MobAdWin“. To remind you, MobAdwin is an app that rewards users (in cash) for viewing, rating, and providing feedback to the advertisers/business owners ads they see. THIS WEEK. Mobee, a new startup based in Boston has just came out of private beta, and is backed by $1.1million in seed funding. While the round has attracted numerous investors from all areas including: IBM, Pinterest, JumpTap, and the like.. That is not the point of todays article. What I really wanted to do is compare the two to help you recognize, visualize, and conceptualize what opportunities you might see for yourself with this top of trending revenue model that (to my knowledge) 2 companies are already jumping on board with. Let me start off by describing Mobee in a nutshell.. Mobee rewards users for reviewing businesses. By using a concept of “live missions,” where users are asked to rate...
Read MoreEarlier last week.. I wrote an Article about the possibility of the new apple iMacs possibly being delayed until next year due to welding and assembly issues. Sources via 9to5 say that Apple has already begun shipping the new 21.5″ iMacs to distribution hubs across the United States and several other countries across the world. The same sources expect the 21.5″ iMacs to be available to order online via Apple’s online store by the end of the month. The 27-incher also appears to still be launching next month in December and there is a large probability of both of them appearing on the Apple Online Store at the same time. It should be noted that during Apple’s latest earnings call, CEO Tim Cook went on to say that: “On the iMac we’ll be constrained for the full quarter in a significant way… there will be a short amount of time to manufacturer and ramp those and I expect demand to be robust… we will have a significant shortage.” ...
Read MoreAs of Today, Monday November 19th, 2012. Apple has approved more than 1 MILLION Apps in the App Store. This is according to App Store discovery company Appsfire, and was announced this morning via twitter. Congrats!! Co-founder of Appsfire Ouriel Ohayon told The Next Web that, “Of the one million app submissions since 2008, 493,289 were paid and 158,848 were games. Of the 736,247 apps that are currently live 336,270 are paid (around 45 percent), while 120,065 are games (around 16 percent). The app count includes iOS apps only and doesn’t account for Mac App Store apps.” While it’s unlikely Apple will make a press release disclosing the achievement, it’s still an accomplishment worth recognizing. The Store itself is accessed by a large percentage of Apple’s 400 million iTunes account holders, accounting for 35 billion downloads in it four year life. Apple has historically seen developers remove their titles from the App Store and has been forced to uphold copyright notices (also removing infringing apps and generally policing its storefront). Because of this,...
Read MoreIt’s funny how I was just talking to my friend Isaac about this just yesterday. Basically what I was saying was.. “I think that it’s such an exciting time to be alive, and especially in the mobile/app industry – and honestly, I think that the App Industry is really where the future of job creation will be.” #1 ..after reading a recent stat by the folks over at W3i it appears that the “App Economy” has actually ALREADY created nearly 500,000 jobs in the US since the inception of the industry back in 07′ Not to mention that developers (programmers/coders) are among the highest paid jobs. According to a survey from the staffing firm Robert Half International: mobile app developers can expect pay increases of 9% from the average of $92,750 to $133,500. Additionally.. more employers are becoming more accepting of the use of mobile devices in the workplace and perhaps even profitable. Employee mobile device usage is expected to rise to 90% by 2014. ...
