RIM sees 15,000 Apps submitted for Blackberry 10 in 2 days

You remember a few days ago, or late last week when RIM tried to bribe developers $100 for every app that was approved? Well, it looks like it’ working. Their incentivized online ‘port-a-thon’ hosted by RIM has seen more than 15,000 apps submitted for BlackBerry 10 in just 37.5 hours (just under 2 days). Alec Saunders RIMs VP of developer relations noted that while there were 15,000 apps submitted not all of them were likely to pass RIM’s vetting process. Given, if they were to give away the $100 to all the 15,000 developers that would be $1.5 million, maybe more depending on other variables. Sure pundits say this is a sign of how ‘eager’ RIM is to get developer support (apps made) on their platform, but the fact of the matter is..they DO have some catching up to do, so I see nothing wrong with...

The Secrets to ranking on the Google Play Store | Revealed

We’re going to jump right into the deep end today. The differentiations about ranking on Google Play vs Ranking on Apple. This article is based on an interview that had been conducted with the folks from W3i and Nate Dykstra. First question: How do Google Play’s and Apple’s ranking algorithms vary? The key in Google Play is quality. Having taken a lot of heat in their early days for having apps that were extremely lacking in regards to quality; this method allows them to hold developers accountable if the want to see success on the platform. Google Plays ranking algorithm seems a lot more calculated than Apple’s seeing as they take into account variables that date back ot the initial launch date of the apps (that means 4+ years for some). Meanwhile Apple is believed to calculate their rankings based on more ‘real-time’ data measuring only a few days back, this is what enables media buys (paid promotion) to have such immediate influence. Windows 8 Opporunity for Freemium Games – Is there really any?

So you better fill yourself in by understanding the latest for what opportunities are available to you for porting your iOS or Android game and services to boost your success. So what opportunity is there, really? Let’s talk installs. Last week at CES (Jan 8th to be exact) Microsoft revealed that they have sold 60 Million copies of windows 8 since their release in October. In their first 2 months alone, they’ve also surpassed 100 million app downloads. When it comes to monetization, Microsoft is leveraging its huge bank of credit card accounts built through Xbox live memberships, Zune (yes remember that device?), etc.. Additionally, Microsoft has their own ad product and are allowing third party payment and ad services. Limited support is currently available. Getting your App(s) on the windows store. iPad 5 and new iPad mini coming in March, say analysts

“Our checks at CES indicate Apple will release the iPad 5 and the second-generationiPad mini this March. The iPad 5 is expected to be lighter and thinner than the iPad 4 that was released in October, while the form factor of the iPad mini should be similar to the first generation iPad mini that debuted in October.” said analyst Brian White of Topeka Capital after having gained his insights over the past week from sources at the CES event. Needless to say, updates to both the iPad and iPad mini in march would demonstrate a very agressive update cycle for Apple, who generally updates their iOS devices on a yearly schedule. For those times when you want to ‘Bust a Cap..tion’ The AppFlixion Group, whose first iPhone app (Bust A Caption) hit the AppStore on January 12th, 2013.
