KakaoTalk Hits 100 Million Users

KakaoTalk Hits 100 Million Users

Certainly a milestone to be celebrated, the South Korean-based social messaging app Kakaotalk has recently logged its 100 millionth user registration.  The achievement comes almost exactly 3 years and 3 months after KakaoTalk launched in Korea. Kakao itself claims the platform’s growth can be attributed to the company’s innovation. While Line (a competitor to Kakao) still flaunts more users than KakaoTalk does, the addition of 10 million users in a little over a month is certainly closing the gap. Additionally, it makes evident the popularity of these emerging social networks in Asia.  Although, it should be mentioned that both Line and Kakao are  starting to grow their presence in European countries such as...

Apple App Store Celebrates 5 Years

Apple App Store Celebrates 5 Years

And what better way to celebrate than creating a timeline of milestones that represent noteable moments in Apple’s history.  The timeline was sent to members of the media including: The Financial Times’ Tim Bradshaw. This is similar to what Apple did earlier this year by sending out a celebratory memento for iTune Stores 10th anniversary in existence. With that being said, Apple launching a similar site for the App Store’s 5th anniversary on July 10th wouldn’t be too far...

Tipping point for HTML5 Gaming Coming Soon, says Ludei

Tipping point for HTML5 Gaming Coming Soon, says Ludei

Following a recent interview between Ludei CEO Eneko Knorr and Pocketgamer.biz earlier last week, technology company Ludei has announced not just a new $1.5 M round of funding, but also a “tipping point” that’s on it’s way. To summarize the interview, Knorr acknolwedged the fact that previously and presently there are still many issues with HTML5 running on mobile devices, such as poor performance, broken sound, inability to access phones complete hardware, and the like. Until now, Knorr says, “our platform solves all of that problems: our unique acceleration technology improves the performance by 10 times; we fix the audio offering perfect multi channel sound; we give access to hardware features like the camera, GPS, accelerometer… So basically we bring a native-like experience to HTML5 games on mobile.” The company stated that their technology is currently being used by 6,000 developers, but what they’d really like to see if the large publishers like Zynga, Disney, and Rovio to name a few use their platform. This will (needless to say) give...
