Freemium Apps account for 92% of App Store 98% on Google Play
According to new stats from eMarketer the App App Store has went from 77% to 92% of freemium apps that populate its app store. Google play on the other hand has gone from 89% to 98%. Both App Stores appear to have the same allocation of % to Premum apps and Paid Freemium apps with Google Play 1% Paid Apps, 1% Paid App with in-app purchases vs the Apple App Store who has 4% for those two areas. While it’s quite known that Google Play has more of a market share than Apple’s App Store (because they have so many more devices) the Apple App Store still retains 63% of App Revenue. Google has 37% compared to 30% in June, where Apple was at 70%.
