53% of Female Smartphone Owners Use 5 or More Shopping Apps [INFOGRAPHIC]
A new report from mobile marketing platform Swirl has surveyed 1,000 US female smartphone owners, to discover that while 53% may have up to 5 shopping apps on their device, they still prefer the real world in-store experience. In fact, 76% prefer shopping for clothes and shoes in traditional bricks and mortar stores. The data imposes that brands need to strengthen their in-store mobile offerings instead of solely focusing their effort on devices. With only 1% of women that prefer to buy threads via mobile apps and sites, one would think this wouldn’t even need to be mentioned.
Swirl CEO Hilmi Ozguc had this to say,
“Women overwhelmingly prefer to shop for clothes and fashion in retail stores rather than online via their smartphones or laptops. That is not going to change dramatically anytime soon.
“Retailers have a huge opportunity to use mobile technology to influence shoppers by delivering personalised content and offers where and when they matter most – while customers are shopping in their stores.”
