80% of Smartphones Unprotected from Malware and The History of Android [INFOGRAPHIC]

80% of Smartphones Unprotected from Malware and The History of Android [INFOGRAPHIC]

No doubt the fact that I’m pairing these two topics is to be even considered coincidence. Fact of the matter is, according to Juniper Research nearly 1.3 billion smartphone devices (which includes smartphones, feature phone, and tablets) will have mobile security software installed by 2018.

This could be due to the fact that consumers are just now becoming more aware of cyber attacks (especially on android) and are willing to start looking into having some type of security on their device(s).

Juniper found that cyber criminals are indeed moving towards mobile devices vs continuing to focus their efforts on PC’s (yay for media producers like me). Trend Micro’s suspects that by the end of the year their will be more than one million malwares that have infected the market.

If you thought that was bad..

Wait till you hear that only 39% of businesses actually have mobile optimized sites. Ouch. I would almost say I feel bad for them, if it weren’t for the fact that anyone who does not have a mobile optimized site can easily change that. Unsurprisingly, most job seekers research employers via their devices.

With 48% of job seekers looking and researching on their devices, I’d say businesses need to get their sh%t together. After all, 19% say they think badly of a firm that doesn’t support their connected devices. Certainly star talent wouldn’t be attracted to a company who’s living in the ice age.

On another note..

76% claim to interact with applicants via social media such as: Twiter and Facebook. This makes up for some of the mobile neglect with 15% of applicants thinking positively about a business for doing so.

Monster.co.uk marketing director Sinead Bunting had this to say,

“In our increasingly connected world, job seekers expect to engage with employers through multiple channels, platforms and devices, rather than simply relying on a one-dimensional job advert or career site.

“Employers need to ensure their approach to recruitment matches their consumer marketing. This means making the application process and jobs information available across a range of devices – including mobiles, smartphones, desktops and tablets – otherwise they’ll find a new generation of job applicants will slip through the recruitment net.”

Finally..

The history of Android.

From digital camera plans to being acquired by Google to taking over 75% of the smartphone market. Thanks to the folks at StartApp we have this cool infographic to share with you.

Founded in 2003, Android was given its name from founder Andy Rubin who loves robots. Despite the original concept being to power digital cameras, this was ditched in for smartphones, a market that Android now owns 75% of.
