Hands On HTC One – Officially Unveiled

Hands On HTC One – Officially Unveiled

After months of leaks and speculation the HTC One has finally been revealed.  At a special press event in NYC and London that started at 10:AM today HTC showed that it's taken cues from Apple to better compete in more ways than one.

The Android running device has a physical design that can't help but be compared to the iPhone 5.  With aluminum constructing the majority of the device and the fact it only comes in Black and White, (not to mention the rounded rectangle look) it's sure to remind iPhone 5 owners of their own hardware. If that wasn't enough, the HTC One also has the likes of the iPhone 4's external wireless edge-running antenna.

While HTC put the majority of their focus on the software and features for the device.  The specs are as follows:

It's evident that HTC's strategy isn't to build a better smartphone than Samsung for android, but rather implement a similar strategy as what Samsung has done with the Galaxy I, II, II, and soon to be IV.

Some features worth mentioning include:

HTC Zoe

Press the shutter and the HTC One automatically captures up to 20 photos and a 3-second video—a picture that’s alive. So your entire photo album becomes a living, breathing gallery.

 HTC BlinkFeed

With HTC BlinkFeed™, simply pick the social networks, news and feeds you want to stay updated on and they'll all stream live to your home screen. The pulse of your world is in the palm of your hand.

Sense Voice

It includes dual built-in microphones that detect loud ambient noise and will then dynamically boost the in-call voice to compensate. Hurrah for clarity.

HTC BoomSound

Dual frontal stereo speakers powered by built-in amplifiers deliver bigger sound with less distortion and more detail.

Needless to say, this is an important launch for HTC. They need to be recognized by consumers in non-relative terms to Samsung in order to stand out.  Consequences could include being lumped in with the general mass of other Android OEM's.

Further details, as well as if you'd like to place an order can be found on the HTC one Web Page.

  1. The HTC One is an Android smartphone manufactured by Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. Serving as a successor to the HTC’s 2012 flagship phone, the One X (a device that was critically acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful due in part to poor marketing efforts), the One places emphasis on unique hardware and software features, such as an aluminum casing, front-facing stereo speakers, a revised version of HTC’s Sense user experience, a new camera implementation with an image sensor designed to perform better in low-light environments, and other unique software functionality such as the scrolling “BlinkFeed” content feed and Zoe camera feature..^:..
