Windows Phone – 130,000 Apps and counting

While they still have a long ways to go to catch up with Apple and Google’s 775,000+ the growth apperas to be picking up quite a bit.  Microsoft claims to have quadrupled Windows Phone sales in Q4 of 2012 with app submissions experiencing similar growth.

They also revealed that the Windows Phone Store now hosts a total of 130,000 apps with 15,000 having been created specifically for Windows Phone 8.  This of course also means that downloads are up (by 75% to be exact) as well as paid app revenue jumping by 91%.  Microsoft claims on average a user will download 55 apps each.

Kantar Worldpanel also recently reported that Windows Phone has slipped past BlackBerry to take third spot in both the US and UK.  You can find out more about the growth of the Windows Phone Store in this recently published infographic.
