94% of UK Would Rather Live Without Sex Than Their Phones

94% of UK Would Rather Live Without Sex Than Their Phones

They must be very strong-willed on that side of the world. Evidently young UK adults are more intimate with their phones than their partners. In a survey conducted by MobileInsurance.co.uk a shocking 94% admitted their would rather live without sex for a week than spend the same time away from their mobile devices.

The survey consisted of over 2,500 UK Adults between ages 18 & 30. All of which were: non-single, mobile phone owners.

When asked how they value their mobile phones,

  • 65% confessed “they couldn’t live without it”.
  • 22% said “they were very dependent on it”.
  • 10% claimed they could “take it or leave it”.
  • On the other end of the spectrum,
  • only 2% said they needed it ‘just ocassionaly’
  • and 1% claimed they could ‘easily live without it’.

Diving deeper the research also aimed to discover what people would rather live without (with their phone out of the equation) for a 7-day period, see the results below.

  1. Sex – 94%
  2. TV/Film – 82%
  3. Car – 71%
  4. My partner – 62%
  5. Bed – 55%
  6. Money – 47%
  7. Basic meals – 45%
  8. House – 32%
  9. Any other human contact – 23%
  10. Their Own children – 9%

Director of MobileInsurance.co.uk Jason Brockman added that:

“I think the key thing to take from this research is that almost 90 per cent of people either said they couldn’t live without their mobile phone or that they were very dependent on it, yet just 12 per cent of the total respondents had an insurance policy in place in case something went wrong.

“That seems very bizarre to me. Why not protect something if you couldn’t live without it? It was intriguing to see that some people would even be willing to go without any other human contact for seven days instead of their phone and, as for the nine per cent that would go without seeing their own children for a week instead of their phone, perhaps they need to get their priorities straight!”
