62% of last months iOS Apps ‘didn’t make the ranks’
That’s right 62% of apps in the Appstore in October didn’t cut it.
October was probably one of the worst months for indie app developers, with 62% of apps failing to even make the ranks in Apple’s App Store.
On the other hand, it was also discovered that 32% of apps were able to retain their positions in the App Store throughout the month.
Topping the list for must upward “trending” apps in the global app ecosystem was: Need for Speed Most Wanted, which reached a global position of 34 only 2 days after release. Since then, it had maintained its spot in the top 50 paid apps.
Still not as good as Angry Birds – Star Wars if you ask me 😉 (reaching Top of app charts in 2 1/2 hours)
Today as it stands, it is: #24 in Top Games (for iPad), #39 in Top Apps (for iPad), and #40 in Top Games (for iPhone).
CEO and co-founder of Adeven, Christian Henschel had this to say,
“Apps can shoot up the ranking thanks to clever marketing campaigns but they won’t stay there long if they aren’t any good or don’t receive constant marketing.
“If an app plummets, say dropping 249,694 ranking spots in the global rank in just one day, then you need to ask why.”
Also adding, that quality of app and marketing do make a crucial difference.
