Small Businesses and Apps
Sometimes in the vast world of Apps we forget about the people that count. Us. Small businesses I mean.
I mean, let’s look at some quick facts..
- They Represent 99.7 percent of all employer firms.
- Employ half of all private sector employees.
- Pay 44 percent of total U.S. private payroll.
- Generated 65 percent of net new jobs over the past 17 years.
- Create more than half of the nonfarm private GDP.
- Hire 43 percent of high tech workers ( scientists, engineers, computer programmers, and others).
- Are 52 percent home-based and 2 percent franchises.
- Made up 97.5 percent of all identified exporters and produced 31 percent of export value in FY 2008.
- Produce 13 times more patents per employee than large patenting firms.
So what does all this have to do with You and Apps?
Well..
While EVERYONE is so focused on creating the next Angry Birds, WhatsApp, or Flashlight app you have to ask yourself at some point..what other markets are there?
Believe it or not, the Small Business App industry will account for a 200 billion dollar industry over the next few years.
With that being said, and with the skillsets you already have – wouldn’t it be worth looking into? I’d say so, and at the very least you should realize this is no market to ignore.
