Google Maps NOW LIVE on The Apple App Store | Back and Sexier than ever.

Google Maps NOW LIVE on The Apple App Store | Back and Sexier than ever.

Finally!

First things first...

I have to get my speculation out there regarding Google's timing on this one (other than 12/12/12).  It's almost like they were concerned about the headlines from the other day regarding the Australian police warning their citizens NOT to use Apple Maps as it could be "potentially life threatening" (leaving people stranded in the middle of nowhere).

Samsung was also quick to jump on the attack with their own guerrilla marketing after the headlines; basically saying: You should have got a Samsung Galaxy S3 where our Maps App doesn't suck.

Then you have Google come along RIGHT after Apple announced that they were thinking of acquiring TomTom for $10 a share, (which would have been double their currently listed share price).  TomTom after-all, has already been helping Apple with their Maps Apps, but this would be an outright 'acquisition royal' as some people were referring to it as.

Back to the point..

Obviously none of these current events were helping Apple's publicity at all, and as you can imagine them scrambling to figure out what the heck they're going to do...

Big brother Google Steps in and saves the day giving consumers/users exactly what they want.  Personally, I think this is such a brilliant move on Google's behalf, almost like saying to Apple.

"That's right, we saved your ass."

I for one, am stoked.  Mainly because this will quiet down all the pundits who base their opinions off others opinions rather than 'seeing for themselves' if what's being said is legit or not.  Don't get me wrong, clearly in Australia - it must have been an issue for the authorities to warn their citizens, but HERE in the Bay Area..can't say I ever had an issue..

..but then again, it was never on par with Google Maps.  I guess now we can all rest assured knowing Apple can go back to focusing on the..

BRAND NEW and IMPROVED -  (AND IN 6-8 DIFFERENT COLORS)...

*drumroll*

So that about wraps this one up, you can download the Google Maps for iOS  here.  And you can also see some screenshots below of what you have in store.

Probably one of my favorite things about the App is that they ported in all your search history from the Web based Google Maps.  Other than that, it works just how you expect it to - and looks great!
