App Annie August Index 2013 Games and Non-Game Apps

While August was certainly a couple months ago, it's better late than never. That is the case today, where we have the Apps Index from App Annie to share with you. Both Game Apps, and Non-Game Apps will be discussed, so enjoy.

Diving into things..

For Games..

Plants vs Zombie 2 made its way to the #1 spot for the most downloaded game in August. EA reported that since its release in August, the game has already passed the lifetime downloads of the original Plants vs Zombies with over 25 million downloads. For you Android fans, there's been a soft-launch in China and a worlwide rollout is said to be on its way.

In addition, Plants vs Zombies fans can also look forward to an extension of the game on console. That means, Xbox one, PS3, and PC over the next six months.

Looking at the top 10 Games on iOS, it's evident that Puzzle, Endless-Running, and Racing Games Dominate. The iOS App Store downloads are largely driven by puzzle games like Candy Crush Saga, WeMatch, Where's My Mickey Free, 4 Pics 1 Song, and Bad Biggies. Comparitevely, when looking at Google Play THE ONLY puzzle-based game in the Top 10 most downloaded games for August was Candy Crush Saga. Indeed, endless-runners seem to be more popular on Android with Bike Xtreme, Fast Racing 3D, and Hill Climbing producing the most downloads in the top 10.

When looking at Non-Game Apps..

Pandora continues to lead for the fifth month in a row. Not much interesting things going on aside from that, unless you consider that the Japanese Developers are making head-way in the US markets with 'Romance Simulation' Apps. I think it's pretty interesting, but I suppose more can be absorbed from the charts below.
