App Revenue to Double in Next 4 Years
According to a recent ‘State of the App Economy’ report from AppNation, they claim that the App Revenue will double from this years $72 Billion, to $151 billion in 2017.
Leading the way, we have email, browser, and social networking apps. With that being said, commerce-enabled apps will be the biggest driver of revenues, followed by revenue from paid-downloads, in-app ads and purchase of virtual goods.
Word of mouth continues to be the primary way that tablet owners discover new apps, according to 60% of consumers, with app store reviews in second at 40% and around 35% getting apps that are in the different charts.
Additionally, while music and game apps are still ahead of video, the majority of mobile device owners under 45 use video apps at least a few times a week. Due to the improvement of broadband speeds and video in general, video has been on the rise on both smartphones and tablets.
Lastly, the report revealed that devices main use is for emails with 70% of users checking at least a few times a day, followed closely by using browsers, messaging, surfing the web and social networking.
