AppVillage creates an opportunity for all – Calling all Appreneurs

AppVillage creates an opportunity for all – Calling all Appreneurs

Maybe you have an idea.  Maybe you have the coding know-how.  Maybe you have the eye of a designer.  It could also be that you just have a boat-load of cash that you can’t think of a better opportunity to invest in.  Whatever the case may be, App Village has a a place for you.

At AppVillage the mission is to build a community of innovators, designers, developers, project managers, marketers, investors and AppLovers who work together to produce, market and enjoy game-changing apps (not that they have to be a game).

AppVillage aims to not only foster new ideas but to produce and market apps so that they are successful and all parties involved can reap the rewards.

Having had the chance to touch base with Co-Founder Patrick Vasser at the Apps World Conference in San Francisco a couple weeks ago, I can honestly, and whole-heartedly say that what AppsVillage is aiming to do is nothing short of revolutionary.  Fortunately, for those of you reading today you’ll be happy to know that I had chance to get a moment of Patrick’s time and had him answer the following:

1) How did you come up with the idea to start App Village?

Steve, Matt and I all come from an agency background servicing clients and felt it was time to create for consumers with consumers and incentivise anyone involved in a project.

As we witnessed the mobile space explode over the last 2 years and crowd-sourcing and funding platforms evolve we thought there’s an opportunity to combine the two and offer a forum where anyone has a chance to get their app idea made.

2) What excites you the most about App Village, and its potential to disrupt the marketplace.

What’s exciting is that in relative terms we’re still at the beginning of the app era. It reminds us to some degree about the .com boom, but without the arrogance and naivety that lead to the crash. There’s just so much opportunity for innovation and momentum in the mobile space at the moment coupled with the willingness of investors to support tech companies. We like to disrupt the traditional mindset that you need deep pockets to get your idea turned into a product, or an app in our case. We like to encourage innovation from all of our community members.

3) What is the best advice you can give, or have received as a startup entrepreneur in the highly competitive app space?

Don’t get discouraged by a seemingly crowded market place. It’s already pretty tough out there, but we didn’t stop making websites after the 10 millionth was launched.  We just made the web smarter and faster. And the app marketplace is still shifting and evolving and millions of new devices activated every day. The one mantra we keep hearing in terms of apps is speed to market and iterate, iterate, iterate. Something we’re working on…

Thank you Patrick for your time.  I’m sure our readers will find this insightful for a long time to come, even given the industry we’re in.

  1. How can an app development company like ours (www.agicent.com) apply in the app village marketplace as app development service provider? We've a large portfolio and experience of 6 years, would they consider us?

    • Great question Sundeep! Best to check out their website’s FAQ’s probably.
