Read MoreNew data from Localytics shows that users acquired through FB’s PPI on mobile perform just as well as organic users. This could be very good and insightful news to those looking for a smart way to boost their downloads and rankings without having the immediate downfall after their campaign that most experience with incentivized burst campaigns. Since the launch of the platform last year, Facebook has claims to have generated more than 145 million new app installs for developers. Localytics research shows that 81% of app users acquired through Facebook advertising use the new app more than once, compared to 78% of new users acquired organically. Needless to say, this shows just how valuable Facebook is, and is increasingly becoming for mobile marketers everywhere. The study observed the retention of Android, iPhone and iPad users during a 60-day period ending Sept. 10, 2013. As well as, acquisitions that were attributed to Facebook mobile app install ads were compared to organic users who weren’t attributed to any other advertising channel. Again,...
Read MoreThanks to the folks at Mashable, we have this cool infographic to share with you. As is evident, there are certain behaviors that desktop still dominates on – but mobile certainly carry’s it’s own. Particularly in the areas of: Photos, Maps, Games, Weather, and Social Networking. Desktop however, still appears to take the lions share for: Retail, Entertainment news, Business/Finance, and general news. Take a look and...
Read MoreHey now, just because the company went bankrupt and already fired most of their employees doesn’t mean that they’re still not doing great things! For instance, let’s take for instance a look at the app ecosystem with their latest BlackBerry Messenger app. The app has an astonishing 10 million downloads in its first 24-hours. Wow. The app (which is available on both iOS and Android) is said to have hit the top free app charts in more than 75 countries including: the US, UK, and Canada. Certainly a lot better launch than that of the new BlackBerry 10 itself ;). BlackBerry has yet to disclose which OS has what % of downloads. HOWEVER, a little digging will show that Google Play shows the apps install base being between 1 and 5 million which leads us to assume that there are in-fact more downloads on iOS. While the rapid number of downloads in a short period of time may seem like BlackBerry has it all-together, this is actually their second...
Read MoreBefore we jump into this, I want to first of all say that something really important happened recently. Actually, it’s not that important – but in-case you haven’t already heard; Instagram will be making its way to Windows sometime in the near future. In more important news, as expected Gartner confirms PC sales continuing to decline YOY, and tablets will amount to the same amount of PC sales by just 2014 (next year). Indeed, tablet shipment grew by 53.4% this year while the PC market went down another 4.5%. Needless to say, Android OS dominance will not be overtaken by Apple anytime soon. According to Gartner desktops shipped 303 million units worldwide this year vs tablets 184 million. Next year Gartner anticipates that only 282 million PC’s will be shipped (note: shipped does not mean sold, in fact the actual number of units sold could be substantially less). Tablets are expected to ship 263 million units. When it comes to SALES of PC’s vs Tablet’s next year, I am leaning...
Read MoreIndeed as Google breaks into the $1,000 per-share rankings for the first time ever, Apple remains at around $500; not even close to where it was around this time last year prior to the iPhone 5 release (having broken the $700’s for the first time ever). Apple recently had two head execs also leave from the eCommerece and Product department. (Don’t worry, no names that you’re probably familiar with). I found it interesting however that while one of these execs went to eBay, the other went to Jawbone. Jawbone. It reminds me of when Steve Jobs went to Jonathan Skulley in the 90’s to get him to leave Pepsi, Co to come to Apple with the closing phrase: “Do you want to make soda water for the rest of your life, or do you want to change the world?”. Some might argue that Apple still is in-fact changing the world, however despite their admirable level of refinement, there frankly hasn’t been much to get excited about. I mean, let’s...
