Apple App Store Downloads October | Apple App Store CPA October

Apple App Store Downloads October | Apple App Store CPA October

Apple App Store Downloads October | Apple App Store CPA October Thanks to the folks over at Fiksu for doing an incredibly insightful analysis, and providing charts to provide visual assistance for understanding.  Their analysis concluded that October’s searches ‘soared during the month’ but so did cost for conversions.  Savvy marketers knew to ride the ‘organic wave’ instead of choosing to pay higher ppc or ppm bids.   Fiksu notes that, “Advertising is key to driving up organic search results. In order to get their fair share of any organic lift, marketers needed to continue to spend – but they could do so at a less frantic pace than during previous device launches.” Similar to the iPhone 4S launch in October 2011, Apple’s iPhone 5 download volumes soared by 33%.  Traffic like this also surged by 29% following the availability of the much-hyped iPhone 4S. With consumers taking several weeks to update to iOS6 this had led to a steadier, more sustained opportunity for mobile app marketers in even with...

App Flood | Is AppFlood right for you?

App Flood | Is AppFlood right for you?

Is AppFlood right for you?   A while back I attended this event called the Global Mobile Internet Conference down in the valley.  Pretty big. Pretty interesting – and pretty insightful.  There was one company that I still remember to this day, mainly because I thought the idea of what they were doing was pretty cool for Indie developers.   AppFlood basically provides developers a simple SDK procedure that enables them and their apps to cross-promote with hundreds of other developers.   Here are some key benefits:   It’s open to everyone. You can setup your campaign in minutes. Best of all, it’s 100% commission-free.   Side effects may include: Increased users Excitement Regained hope But really,   If you head on over to AppFlood‘s website you’ll see under the “How it Works” what basically looks like this: So I’d encourage you to check it out.     At the end of the day, it’s free.   So you have nothing to lose – and everything to gain!  ...

App Annie Index Chart Q4 2012

App Annie Index Chart Q4 2012

App Annie Index Chart Q4 2012   The folks over at App Annie have gone through the trouble of creating an article that assists people in ‘reading’ the store index charts they provide.  I thought some of there points were worth sharing.   So let’s jump into it!   The chart above shows some important findings, and while it may be a bit unclear, that’s what I’m here to elucidate. The chart shows that during the month of October 2012, iOS worldwide revenues were four times larger than those of Google Play. iOS’s October 2012 monthly revenues were also 12.9% higher than their monthly revenues in January 2012. Google Play’s October 2012 monthly revenues however.. were 311% higher than their monthly revenues in January 2012. Needless to say,  Google Play has shown some very impressive growth during the first ten months of 2012. But, it’s important to note the following: The comparisons are two single months of the year.It is not compounded growth across these months. It’s not a year-over-year...

Apple reveals next-gen wireless charging – Patent

Apple reveals next-gen wireless charging – Patent

Finally. Seriously, do I have to say it again? Finally.   I mean, you would think that they would have had this technology pre-iPhone 5 release.  But no.  Apple likes to release things ‘fashionably late’.  Any way, the scoop is – they filed a new patent application that outlines  charging low-power devices from a near-field magnetic resonant (MFMR) power supply.A few watts of electricity could be transferred wirelessly from a NFMR power source, operating about a 6ft away from the receiving device vs being connected. The patent was published this week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and discovered by AppleInsider.   The filing notes that: “a realistic and practical approach to wireless transferring usable amounts of power over distances suitable for limited applications can be realized.” Potentially more than one device could be charged simultaneously with this technology.  Although, considering the current watt limitations, it’s possible such a technology could only be useful for charging an iPod, iPhone, or possibly even an iPad mini.   ..But likely not a full-sized iPad,  at least...

iOS and Android userbase hit 750 Million

iOS and Android userbase hit 750 Million

iOS and Android userbase hit 750 Million   Flurry has reported that there are 750 million iOS and Android activated devices.  This comes from over 220 countries and it is said that these users will generate $10 billion in revenue this year alone. The report has also shown that China is set to overtake the US as the nation with the MOST # of active iOS and Android devices (see chart below).  As it stands, the US has 181 million devices with China just behind with 167 million.  The UK unfortunately is  far behind in 3rd with 35 million active iOS and Android devices.     Flurry analytics predict that China will claim the top spot by the end of Q1 in 2013.  I’d imagine if we weren’t in the holiday season that it would take place sooner.  Flurry states that the growth is spurred by China’s vast population and growing middle class which I don’t think will be slowing down anytime soon.  ...
