Apple releases Q1 2013 earnings

Apple releases Q1 2013 earnings

To break it down, Apple projected it would do about $52 Billion this quater, Analysts had predicted $55 Bilion in revenue and $13.41 earnings per share with 50 million iPhones, 23 million iPads,  12 million iPods, and 5 million Macs.  Regarding The actual Financial and Device Numbers, here’s how it went:   Money: Revenue: $54.5 Billion Profit: $13.1 Billion Earnings per share: $13.81 Profit Margin: 38.6%   Devices:  iPhone: 47.8 million iPad: 22.9 million Macs: 4.1 million iPods: 21.7 million   When you compare  these numbers to last quarters (Q4 of 2012): 27 million iPhones and 14 million iPads With revenue of $36 billion and profit at $8.6 billion.   For a company that’s ‘supposedly struggling’ and whose stock prices shed near $200 billion from its $700/share high in September, I’d say Apple’s  tremendous growth over the previous quarter proves it’s doing pretty...

Apple App Store to have 435K New Apps in 2013

Apple App Store to have 435K New Apps in 2013

But how many of these Apps will go into the ‘App Graveyard’.. where many, many, many Apps wonder, waiting for the day their creators will revive them to become the App they were created to be.  Mobile analytics firm and ad network Adeven released a new year-end report today which reveals several key findings. One of these finding is of course, that the iOS App Store is looking to grow an additional 435,000 apps this year (on top of the 790K+ apps available for download).    This will be a substantial increase from 2012 which had 380,000.  According to Surikate however, 81% of UK visitors stop browsing after checking out the top 50 apps.  This is decrease in viewership is likely due primarily as a result of Chomp’s acquisition prior to iOS 6 when they implemented the new UI to the app store.   Adeven also found that most apps were likely to go un-noticed with 64% of apps not even securing a ‘ranking spot’ for the month of December, thus...

Newest Apple Update aims to stop scammers but hinders legit developers

Newest Apple Update aims to stop scammers but hinders legit developers

“Beginning January 9, app screenshots will be locked in iTunes Connect once your app has been approved. New screenshots may be uploaded when you submit a binary for an update to an existing app or a new app.”   Apple’s newest update (as of Today) in a nutshell: means that the screenshot pictures you upload with your app, are going to be the one’s thay stay there.  Yes, that means no updating screenshots for different seasons, newer updates, etc.. Evidently this is in an attempt to stop developers whose aim is to scam people into downloading their app under the premise of the users believing it is is another app.  This is most notorious for happening with  Minecraft asa frequent target of clone apps, with developers lifting screenshots from the game to promote an unrelated game. One example, cited by Panic Blog, showed a game called Mooncraft with a Minecraft app image that billed itself as “a moon-themed Minecraft-type game for iOS.” But as a Panic video shows (see below), the game was...

Apple working on less expensive iPhone [Rumor]

Apple working on less expensive iPhone [Rumor]

As reported several times over the last few days by the Wall Street Journal: the plans for developing a new cheaper version of the device apparently have now advanced. “The cheaper phone could resemble the standard iPhone, with a different, less-expensive body, one of the people said. One possibility Apple has considered is lowering the cost of the device by using a different shell made of polycarbonate plastic. Many other parts could remain the same or be recycled from older iPhone models.”   The real question is, will this cheaper version of the iPhone have the same screen dimensions as the current iPhone 5?  Will it be smaller (reverting back to the screen size on the original iPhone all the way up to the iPhone 4S)?  Who knows.  While the Wall Street Journal states that Apple could still drop the idea, Apple has supposedly been planning a less-expensive version of the phone since at least 2009 in an effort to: “grab market share and hook people on the brand.”...
