A titled based around its existing Samurai vs Zombies Defense.  Samurai vs. Zombies Slots is the companies first product of Glu’s strategic partnership with mobile gambling provider Probability plc, (they handle all the regulatory responsibilities).  Taking a closer look, the game features a jackpot prize of almost $9,000 and be offered to a wide range of Probability’s partners, including: Paddy Power, William Hill, and other White Label Partners.   As of now, Samurai vs. Zombies Slots is only available in the UK, although there is no doubt Glu is working with regulators in hopes of them relaxing the rules to allow them to come into the very lucractive US market. Leap + Fleksy = Awesome

Leap + Fleksy = Awesome

There are certain things you run across every once-in-a-while that are just straight up awesome.  Leap + Fleksy is one of those things.  ..And instead of me going into WHY I think that is, you can enjoy this video they put together, where I’m sure when your mind will be blown just as mine was. The company, currently making their rounds at the SXSW conference are showing off their software working with the Leap Motion Controller to provide gesture-based typing input that works just like its iPhone and Android app – except, in mid-air. The company is also debuting its iOS SDK this week, which will allow third-party apps on iOS take advantage of the unique software keyboard.   Needless to say, the demo is very cool.  It’s also likely one of the first apps many will try out when they receive their Leap (set to ship in...

Is Your Mobile Game Thriving or just Surviving?

Is Your Mobile Game Thriving or just Surviving?

Someone once said, “practice makes perfect”. To that I say, “perfect practice makes perfect”.  When tracking the wrong things one cannot possibly be expected to make progress doing the right ones.  Similarly, in Mobile Marketing in analyizing vanity metrics vs actionable metrics, having high downloads, installs, and CTR’s is nice, but are those the real types of KPI’s (Key performance indicators) that are going to help you move forward in your business? ..Probably not. The good news however is, ther are certain variables YOU CAN measure that should very well increase your chances of success by monitoring and analyizing the approriate metrics.  In this article we’re going to touch on a few. Shall we?   Engagement Sessions/DAU While self-explanatory to most, this refers to how many times the average DAU (Daily Active User) initiates a session in your game. A solid number of sessions per DAU is around 3, but it also depends on the genre of your app. I.E. Games like RPGs will tend to have longer but...

Mobile World Congress 2013 – January App Downloads and Marketing Indexes

Earlier last week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Fiksu released January Indexes revealing: increase mobile app download volumes, and a decline in user acquisition costs. The report is said to reflect the impact of the holiday activation surge that occured during ‘power week’ prior to when the data was pulled.   Traditionally, the new year has been an attractive and cost-efficient time for app marketers to acquire new loyal users. Made evident by Fisku’s data, there was no exception this year showing CPLU (Cost per loyal-user) dropping 11 cents to $1.56, from December’s $1.67. When it comes to downloads, Fiksu’s charts revealed 6.01 million daily downloads in January, up 13% from December’s 5.32 million. With record device activations on Christmas Day 2012, user activity and app discovery soared during power week and this carried well into 2013. For 2013, Fiksu expect brands to not only allocate more dedicated spending to mobile advertising, but to also get even savvier about aligning seasonal spending to the ebbs and flows...
