Mobile App Downloads Forecast 2008-2017

Strategy Analytics have just released a report with these key figures to take note of.   First of all, the forecast  said that there will have been more than 350 BILLION smartphone and tablet app downloads by 2017. The  Apple Appstore accounting for 56% while Google Play accounting for more than 45%   Between now, and 2017 Strategy Analytics said,   “paid downloads will generate more than $57 billion globally. However it expects the paid app market to be in decline by 2017 as it forecasts free apps will represent more than 91 percent of all downloads by then.”   Josh Martin, Director of Apps Research at Strategy Analytics had this to say,   “Paid downloads remain an essential component of the app ecosystem,” “Paid downloads will remain an important way for smaller developers to monetize their efforts.
