The Death of TurnTable.FM?

The Death of TurnTable.FM?

Things haven’t been looking good for the Social Music Discovery site that had an astounding 360,000 new users in their first 3 months.  They even peaked at  419,000+ MAU (Monthly Active Users) back in July of 2011.  Their valuation a that time was around $37 Million.   Now, Soundrop which had its minor debut around October last year announced this morning that it has launched ‘listening rooms on facebook’. Turntable.fm is essentially listening rooms not on facebook.  Much like TurnTable.fm..  “artists and fans will be able to create social music spaces where they can listen to music together, chat, and vote on what they want to hear next.”   So what’s the difference? Well, first of all.  Facebook has 1Billion+ users, and is the #2 most trafficked website in the world.  Vs TurnTable.fm which as shown in the image above..isn’t doing so well (27k+ Monthly visits).   A Soundrop ‘listenting room’ on Facebook is a page running the app, which streams music and video from YouTube or VEVO at...

PreApps to bring App Previews to End Users

PreApps to bring App Previews to End Users

If you’re developing an app your biggest concern, (and probably what keeps you up at night) is: whether or not your app will be a hit.  Or how it will be received by users. Good? Bad? Not at all?  Without launching your app and releasing it onto the Apple App Store, or Google Play marketplace (what have you) there is no way to really “tell” how users are going to take it, and whether or not they will actually like it. Heck, maybe they even have good feedback you could implement while you’re still in development before the app hits the store. Yeah, it’s a shame..there hasn’t been a way to do this. UNTIL NOW   Introducing, Pre Apps With over 1.2 millions apps currently on the market and over 30,000 new apps submitted each month, PreApps is the exclusive place to preview new and exciting apps coming soon. PreApps aims to, “forever enhance the relationship between mobile app developers and mobile app users, which will in turn create...

Look-out Zynga. Storm8 just crossed 10 Million in Daily Active Users

Look-out Zynga. Storm8 just crossed 10 Million in Daily Active Users

Storm8 is a bootstrapped mobile game company founded by former facebook engineers.  They just announced today that they have crossed the 10 million DAU (daily active users) mark, which puts that at nearly 1/3rd of Zynga’s own 33 Million DAU (from back in July). CEO Perry Tam went on to say,   “We’re not a one-hit wonder. We never were and we are not a one-trick pony”.     Who also mentioned that their network contains near 200 Million devices.   While not known for having the most distinguisable titles in the space, Storm8 was early to market to both the Android and Amazon platform, and they are a company that is able to hammer out games more aggressively that some competitors.  App Analytics Site released a report which included Storm8 as the 9th biggest game developer by revenue on iOS with only 40 Apps.   The larger the reach, the less mone spent on CPA.  Having 40 Apps also gives them the ability to implement things such as...

Traffic. Because long reviews from strangers suck!

Traffic. Because long reviews from strangers suck!

Maybe you just had the best sushi ever. ..maybe you just took your car in to get serviced at a particular dealer (whose name I won’t mention) and noticed that you now have more things wrong with it than when you got there. ..It could be that you just heard an amazing indie band, attended an awesome event, or discovered a cool new venue. Whatever the case.   Whatever the reason.   Whatever it may be.   Traffic has you covered. Traffic provides users the ability to quickly and easily submit “the green light” ..or yellow, ..or red to those in their social networks (hopefully your friends).  After speaking with Co-Founder Ryan Dodds about a variety of things including: competition, distinguishing factors, and the like.. it was clear that Traffic’s aiming to harness the power of opinions and reviews of those people that actually mean something to you.   “The easy and fast way to share and discover meaningful recommendations on places with friends.” As states on their website.  ...
