Mobile Minute’s 1-Year Anniversary

About a year ago, (November 5th to be precise) I started Mobile Minute with the goal of spreading the word of all the important stuff that was happening in the app, mobile and tech industries . Certainly there were some major events that happened over the past year that had to be written about for the sake of smart content marketing, but I tried to remain true to the mission which is: Mobile Minute aims to provide you up-to-the-minute insights centered around the Mobile industry. Having broke 10,000 visitors/month back in April, I can say that I’m very grateful to have retained an audience of that size (and growing) through the distribution of the valuable content I produce. Having this site has also encouraged and inspired me to write my own book, and speak at a conference earlier this year. Samsung Claims 63% of Android Market with their ‘Phablets’ – App Economy Middle Class Also on the Rise

Phablets. Fonblets. Same thing. What’s important for you to know is that when it comes to the Android Market – Samsung is king. No really. Take a look at the graph below, and tell me that they don’t dominate the other OEM’s. 63.3% vs HTC which is nearly 9/10’s behind them at 6.5%, LG at 5.9%, Sony at 5.6%, and Motorola at 5.0%. I mean, even if you add all the stats together and multiple them BY 3, they would still not represent the same percentage that Samsung have has. So now that you know by just HOW MUCH Samsung leads among its competitors, you may be thinking.. “Well, how does it fare as far as actual devices are concerned?” Smartphones, Tablets, let’s take a look. 10 Days After iPhone 5S and 5C launch Apple claims 40% of U.S. Smartphone Market

This is at least according to the latest data from comScore. Over-all, Apple’s quarterly gain is up 0.7% from 39.9% in Q3 to 40.6% in Q4. Android Market share only declined by .2%, while the other OS’s in the market don’t even represent 8% of the market cumulatively. Together Android and Apple account for 92.4% of the market, leaving 7.9% taken by: Blackberry (3.8%), Microsoft (3.3%) and Symbian (0.3%). When it comes to OEM’s Apple still leads the pack with 40.6% market share up from 39.9% in Q3. Samsung roughly 15% behind at 24.9% up from 23.7% in Q3. While HTC and Motorola saw declines in usage from 8.5% to 7.1%, and 7.2% to 6.8%, respectively. LG held its ground at 6.6% for both Q3 and Q4. Looking at the global smartphone market, Cellular News has reported 44% growth this year, with Apple and Samsung still owning the market as the most popular handsets with 15% and 34% market share, respectively. iPad Air Adoption 2x that of iPad 4

Indeed, this could be Apple’s fastest selling tablet yet. As seen in the charts below the adoption curve is almost unbelieveable compared to the launches of previous Apple Tablets. We also take a look at the adoption of the different verions of iOS, as well as the iPhone family and which model currently is the most popular (in terms of usage). Courtesy of Fiksu, for the stats. As can be deduced from the images above, iPad Air sales don’t seem to be going anywhere but UP (for now). iPhone 5 still proves to be the most popular iPhone at 38.4%, while iPhone 4s is not far behind at 30.0%, meanwhile the iPhone 4 sits at 22.4%, and the iPhone 5S and 5C are at 4.8% and 1.8%, respectively.
