Cycloramic App gives your iPhone magical powers..and, provides a 360 degree hands free video.

Cycloramic App gives your iPhone magical powers..and, provides a 360 degree hands free video.

A new iPhone app called Cycloramic could be the coolest thing since, well, the last coolest thing I wrote about.  Normally, shooting 360-degree video hands-free would require the help of additional hardware. With the new Cycloramic app from Egos Ventures, the iPhone will self-spin (yes spin itself) around by vibrating at certain frequencies. Check out the video below. Developers warn that the iPhone must be placed upright on a flat, hard surface without a case or stand. Also noting, the iPhone 4s: “will only turn very slowly on perfectly level glass. This is really designed for iPhone 5.”   You can download the Cycloramic app from the App Store for 99 cents.  You’ll also find some demo videos from the developer’s YouTube page below....

6 Predictions on Mobile Gaming in 2013

6 Predictions on Mobile Gaming in 2013

The information to follow is a summation of an article that was published earier this week by Eric Savitz over at Forbes. With that being said, please enjoy these insights as they could save you A LOT of time, money, and effort as you contemplate your next or first release into the Apple App Store or Google Play Market. Ever since the hit sensation Angry Birds made its debut on the App Store just a few short years ago the world has been comparing the likes of mobile vs console gaming.  The majority of people are quick to conlcude that mobile gaming is not as immersive as console and PC games. While that may be true, 2013 could be the year that proves otherwise. Needless to say, in 2012 there was tremendous progress, mainly due to mobile hardware advances, but also  to the growth of smartphone adoption (with most now carrying the equivalent of a gaming console around in their pockets).   So what does 2013 really have in...

Apples 5 Tips for Killer App Designs

Apples 5 Tips for Killer App Designs

A lot of people seem to struggle with this one. Not sure how proper orientation works, or yet alone a thing about composition. This is not the place where you want to be when building your designs for your app.   The 5 tips below will help you solve this problem.   1. The App Should Feel Real. The last thing you want to have is a large disconnect between your app and the user. Game Company’s epitomize the nature of creating immersive environments. Take note: If your app is not immersive to your users, you won’t have those users for very long.   2. Don’t Test the User WHY on earth, would you want to make it confusing for your users to navigate from one end of your app to another? Seriously? You do know people’s patience these days is like 0. If you have to read the same thing again, you’d probably agree that you might even have 0 patience. So keep it simple. 3. Details Matter Is it...

YouTube launches API for video embedding on Android

YouTube launches API for video embedding on Android

YouTube has just launched its Android API which allows developers the ability to more fully integrate their apps with the world’s most popular video sharing service. The new API also allows developers to embed high-quality videos without having to route users to YouTube’s website.   The API was pre-announced at this year’s Google I/O, but launched only yesterday as an experimental form. YouTube doesn’t expect that there will be any major interface changes going forward. The API supports HD playback, fullscreen playback, and closed captions  on devices running Android 2.2 or newer. Support for closed captions, YouTube ads, and integration is also included in the Android YouTube app. Further information about the API can be found on YouTube’s API Blog post that announced the new...

The Appstore Lockdown – what you can expect

The Appstore Lockdown – what you can expect

Every year there seems to be some confusion about the two things that occur during The Lockdown.  Today we’re going to clarify those differentiations so you can rest at ease knowing what’s what.   1. iTunes App Store Freeze: This is when Apple ‘locks down’ the front-end App Store display on December 25th, which pauses the rank of all apps for almost 48 hours.   2. iTunes Connect Holiday Shutdown:  Apple is also  restricing  access to iTunes Connect and putting any new apps or updates on hold during this ‘Power Week’.  Apple has also indicated the shutdown will run from December 21st, to Friday, December 29th.   So what does this mean for you?   For  iTunes Connect, it just means that Apple won’t accept new app submissions after the 21st (if an app is submitted after the  21st, it won’t be live until after the 29th). It also means, you’ll be unable to make any updates or pricing adjustments to existing apps during this time. Seeing as all the charts...
