Newest Apple Update aims to stop scammers but hinders legit developers

Newest Apple Update aims to stop scammers but hinders legit developers

“Beginning January 9, app screenshots will be locked in iTunes Connect once your app has been approved. New screenshots may be uploaded when you submit a binary for an update to an existing app or a new app.”   Apple’s newest update (as of Today) in a nutshell: means that the screenshot pictures you upload with your app, are going to be the one’s thay stay there.  Yes, that means no updating screenshots for different seasons, newer updates, etc.. Evidently this is in an attempt to stop developers whose aim is to scam people into downloading their app under the premise of the users believing it is is another app.  This is most notorious for happening with  Minecraft asa frequent target of clone apps, with developers lifting screenshots from the game to promote an unrelated game. Additionally, with its analytics service in more than 25% of all applications downloaded on a given day from the App Store and Google Play, Flurry can reliably estimate total iOS and Android downloads.   Flurry has estimated that over 50 million iOS and Android devices were activated, and 1.76 billion applications were downloaded. The column on the right compares the number of...

iOS 6 Adoption grows 29% after Google Maps release.

iOS 6 Adoption grows 29% after Google Maps release.

Seriously. Apple Maps was that bad.   MoPub Ad exchange that supports over 12,000 apps saw a 29% increase in unique iOS 6 users just five days after Google Maps for iOS hit the App Store. Despite that fact that only 0.2% (According to Chitika) of people decided to jump on board immediately within 48hrs (over the weekend) Which by the way.. had over 10 million installs in the first 48hrs.   MoPub’s CEO went on to say,   “we observed since the launch of Google Maps for iOS 6 a 30 percent increase in unique iOS 6 users, and we think it’s related to Google Maps. It verifies the hypothesis that people were actually holding back to upgrade until Google Maps was available.”   Needless to say, with Apple’s embarrassment aside, this opens up the doors for more people to jump on board the iPhone 5 band wagon knowing they have a dependable maps app...
