Disney’s AppMATes | Combining real-world toys with in-App functions

Disney’s AppMATes | Combining real-world toys with in-App functions

Disney's AppMATes

I have got to say..

This is probably the COOLEST

..and most INNOVATIVE thing I've seen in a while.

I mean, back when I was growing up a box of Lego's would have sufficed for my childhood enjoyment.  But now adays.. if it doesn't run on batteries and it's not technology, then your kids probably won't want it.

Step in,

Disneys AppMATes.  Disneys AppMATes combines the best of both worlds.  Inspired by the film Cars 2, AppMATes is an app that basically turns your screen on your iPad into a virtual mat for real-world toy cars.

Additionally, the app lets you play as a variety of characters from Cars 2 like Lightning McQueen and Holley Shiftwell for instance.  Mini-games (Games that are within the app) include:

  • Racing
  • collecting items (scavanger hunt)
  • ..and exploring new territories

The app is based off a freemium model, which means its FREE to download but you can purchase additional levels to explore through the App Store, like Tokyo ($2.99), Space Escape ($1.99) and Gridlock ($0.99), among others. Additional car characters can also be purchased for $0.99 or $1.99.

As of now, AppMATes is compatible with ALL iPads that have iOS 4 or higher, and recommended for children 4+.

Here's a demo of how AppMATes works.

Let me know how you like this one 😉

 Best,

-Kevin

  1. Too many times I passed over this link, and that was a tragedy. I’m glad I will be back!
