Line Reports Q1 Revenues for 2013 with $58.9 Million

Of those earnings, near 50% are from In-App purchases, 30% from stickers and 80% of revenue is from Japan (it’s largerest user base and where it first kicked off).  Recently passing 150 million users, LINE is revealing for the first time what % of its revenue comes from game in-app purchases vs its stickers.  Being a freemium app it leverages free social messaging and gaming services to draw in users, that will monetize its offering via entertaining add-ons that can be purchases within its apps.

Breaking the revenues down by content type, game in-app purchases accounted near 50% of the Q1 revenues, while paid stickers earned around 1/3rd or 30%.  Additionally, Line has  mentioned that it now has 24 “seed games” (mini-games) that can be downloaded from within the main messaging app.  The company notes it will be reporting earnings regularly from now on, and even indicates to be adding new types of in-app entertainment focused content such as: shopping and music among others.
