If you haven’t heard about Venturocket already, you’re about to. But before I give you the low-down of this awesome company, let me first tell you who they are. In short: Venturocket can be seen as the AdWords for job search. Sort of. Like AdWords, increased competition increases the price of keywords. But unlike AdWords, where paying more money makes your ads more visible and thus more likely to be clicked, on Venturocket, it it is NOT the case that if you pay more then you increase your visibility by employers. VR uses money as a FILTER and NOT as a promotion. In fact, if you are honest (e.g., you...

As Ricardo Bilton at over at VB said earlier today, “The latest data is in, and Android fragmentation is worse than ever.” I couldn’t agree more. Thanks to the folks at OpenSignal who have gathered data from over 680,000 devices that downloaded their app last year, OpenSignal found that 11,868 were completely distinct. This is a HUGE increase from last years 3,997 unique devices. Let’s take a look at the information in visual format, shall we? When it comes to OS (Operating System) it’s evident that Gingerbread still leads the way with 34.1% share, while Jelly Bean is in close 2nd with 32.3% and ICS (ice cream sandwhich)...
A new chart from Jumio/Harris Interactive shows just how addicted we are when it comes to our smartphones. Evidently the survey results indicated that 72% of smartphone owners are almost always within 5-feet of their devices. Not to mention that 3/4 smartphone owners check their devices as soon as they wake up (I’m one of them). Another 40% check them every 10-minutes. Perhaps it is not such a surprise then that 55% of adults use their phones while driving (guilty on this one too). Meanwhile, another 35% use them in the movie theater, and 33% do so on a dinner date. Another 9% use them during sex, and...
Thanks to the folks over at TABLEXI we have a great infographic to share with you today. It breaks down the 10 questions you should ask when considering building an native app vs having a web-app with responsive design. More in the infographic below, enjoy. Update: I noticed that on the stop sign point in this infographic it says that the approval process can take anywhere from a week – several months. That is not true. The average approval time has been 6 days as of recently for the iOS App Store, and 4 Days for the Mac App...
A new study conducted by Parago has shown that 58% of adult smartphone users and 1/3rd of all US shoppers regularly ‘show room’ (when a shopper compares the in-store price to an online source via their mobile device, or when they get home on desktop or tablet). Interestingly, the study found that between Amazon and Google, only 26% go to Google to compare prices. The study also found that a $5 difference will usually sway the customer either way with 67% of showroom shoppers saying they would buy in-store if the item price matched to that on Amazon. Parago CMO Rodney Mason, said: “Even the retailer practice of offering...
I could totally put a good one-liner here, but I will refrain myself from doing so. Vouchercodespro.co.uk has surveyed near 2,000 people in the UK to find that 62% of women have used their phone during sex vs 48% for men. When analyzing things on a more granular level the top 5 reasons for doing so are: 1) 34% to answer calls 2) 24% to read or send texts 3) 22% to read or reply to emails 4) 12% to make calls 5) 4% to check or update social media accounts including: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram ( I can only imagine). Astoundingly, 34% claim their other half didn’t mind...
