Prepare for the “Power Week”
This is as Flurry refers to, as the week between Christmas and New Year which last year saw 1.2 billion app downloads across iOS and Android. Additionally, Flurry tracked the activation of 20 million new devices in this period.
This year it’s expected that 2 BILLION apps will be downloaded in this ‘Power Week’.
The problem is..
Unless you’re loaded with $ you’re going to have a slim chance of getting to the Top of the Charts.
According to Richard Firminger, European MD of mobile analytics and advertising outfit
Flurry,
“The US top 10 is not as important as it used to be,”
Evidently the top 10 US apps and games only account for 29% of global sessions. This has dropped significantly from 49% where it was last year in 2011.
On a positive note, (for China and Russia at least) the market continues growing rapidly with the number of smart devices in these countries up 200% year over year.
Firminger went on to say,
“These trends means that developers should be looking niche opportunities across many territories”
