SnapChat watch your back, Facebook launches Poke to App Store.
If you've heard of SnapChat then you can already guess what the purpose of Poke is. As Facebook explained in a blog post,
“You can poke an individual friend or several at once. Each message expires after a specific time you’ve set, either 1, 3, 5 or 10 seconds,”
This is another single-purpose app on the shelves for Facebook including: Instagram, Messenger, Pages, and Camera.
It appears Facebook learned their lesson in that, instead of waiting to buy the competition they're striking at the roots by duplicating the functionality of popular apps.
The Poke application certainly without a doubt has a lot of inspiration from SnapChat, which people use to send photos and videos that (also) self-destruct after a given time frame. SnapChat’s app appears to be most popular amongst teens, but there is also controversy of it developing a following because of its sexting appeal. It's rumored SnapChat is raising an additional $8 million in funding. That process may get a bit more difficult with Facebook in the picture.
