Word-of-mouth accounts for 57% of New Game Discovery Awareness

Word-of-mouth accounts for 57% of New Game Discovery Awareness

That’s right. In a recent survey conducted by Applifier (with 1,800 mobile gamers) it was discovered that 57% of new game discovery awareness is a result of word-of-mouth. That doesn’t surprise me to be honest. Online awareness is considered as: Seeing a facebook post (24%) Watching a trailer for a game on YouTube (18%) Seeing a screenshot shared by a friend (9%) When it comes to the word-of-mouth side of things (and how they influence gamers decisions to download) Reading user reviews (43%) Hearing from a friend/family member (36%) Seeing a friend/family member play the game (25%) Seeing a Facebook post by a friend or family member (24%) The survey also uncovered a ‘sharer’ type of player who compromise about 20% of the mobile audience, and are considered highly valuable (given the nature of what they do – share things). What’s even cooler is that these ‘sharers’ are more likely to convert to paying users and pay on average 7% more on in-app purchases – which makes them a...

Localytics Introduces New Features for Enterprises

Localytics Introduces New Features for Enterprises

App Analytics company Localytics has updated their funnel tool today to give enterprise customers the ability to drill down and pull information on funnel conversion rates. Additionally, you’ll now be able ‘expand funnel steps’ for better insights on what’s taking place during the whole conversion process. As seen in the image below, the ‘conversion trend chart’ depicts with its line how far users are going through the conversion funnel. If users aren’t converting the way you anticipated, then the ‘event table’ (below) shows what they did instead. More so, the information shows: what’s working and what’s not. Furthermore, there is a ‘drill down table’ which splits your converted vs non-converted users. This can be used to identify trends among certain users, devices, and the like. An example Localytics gives on how the new funnel can be used to drive positive change is: “Peter is a product manager for an mCommerce app and needs to increase revenue generated through the app this month to meet his company’s goals. To this...

5 Ways to Stay On-Top of Ever-Changing UI Innovations

5 Ways to Stay On-Top of Ever-Changing UI Innovations

This is a rather complex topic to describe, so let’s just get into it – and if there are any uncertainties or concerns you can – as always, LEAVE A COMMENT below and we can discuss further what it could mean for you, or your organization. None-the-less, below are 5 things you can do to stay on-top of the ever-changing amount of UI innovations that seem to become mainstream every few months.   Single-Page Apps In short: Keep things on the same page as often as possible. In detail: Because single-page applications can leverage the capabilities of a mobile device to deliver a rich user experience, it’s worth utilizing the camera, accelerometer, and/or GPS for specific and contextual experiences whenever possible. With responsive design being as ubiquitous as it is it’s important to recognize that the way single-page applications can display content visually is practically limitless. Client and Server (The Great Divide) Exposing services and creating distinct separations between the client-side and the back-end services, allows developers to create much richer applications.  More...

Yahoo Acquires Tumblr | Major Flick’r Update & Seemless Confirms Merger with GrubHub

Yahoo Acquires Tumblr | Major Flick’r Update & Seemless Confirms Merger with GrubHub

Damn. What a Monday. I knew taking that nap was a bad idea. In any case, if you missed any of the above, I’ll fill ya in on what’s been going down throughout today. First.. While rumors surfaced last week – the deal was officially confirmed today that Tumblr will be acquired by Yahoo for $1.1 Billion in a mostly cash deal. The deal is expected to close in the second half of this year, and Yahoo’s CFO Ken Goldman said, “We do think those revenues will start monetizing materially [and] will contribute to revevenues in 2014 and beyond,” “not just standalone for Tumblr but also incrementally, helping Yahoo to growth.” With just $13 million in revenues last year and 300 million unique monthly users, Yahoo is making it clear that they’re taking careful consideration “not to screw things up”. Although, that could be hard with a platform where previously the CEO and Founder had steered away (and even informed their users) from ever having ads. Tumblr CEO David...
