Those who hone in on targeting and acquiring loyal users who take specific actions, such as: an in-app purchase, tweet, fb share, registration  etc… are the users who generally become repeat customers, brand advocates, and deliver on-going and the best ROI. The 5 Tips to follow will focus on how to get more of these ‘loyal users’. One important thing to note is that this information is based on 70 Billion+ user-based app actions including: launches, registrations, and in-app purchases from Fiksu’s platform.   So let’s get into it.  1) Set Goals for Loyal Users Now what defines a loyal use will vary from app-app so you’ll need to define what that means...

Nexon Behemoth Sees Revenues Climb 39% to $331.4 Million

Nexon Behemoth Sees Revenues Climb 39% to $331.4 Million

Q4 2012 Proved to be a good one for Nexon (the freemium gaming company that went public around the same time that Zynga did).  The company saw revenues jump 39% to 30.9 Billion Yen ($333.14 million). Despite this, they still posted a net loss of 94 Million Yen ($1 million) due to various writedown and high tax expenses in South Korea.  Emerging in Seoul almost 20 years ago, Nexon originally built their business in downloadabe PC games in China and South Korea with franchies like MapleStory (which I may have played some years ago) – and has cumulatively done more than $1 Billion in revenue.  After raising $1.2 Billion in a late 2011 IPO the company moved its Headquarters to Tokyo.  While the company’s stock hasn’t done nearly as Bad as Zynga (I dont’ think anyones have, maybe Facebook – no not really – they’re ok now :).  But, the road has not been an easy one for Nexon – with shares trading 29% lower than they did a...

1/4th of businesses to own an in-house app store by 2017

Yes, you did read that correctly. “App Store” not “App”.  Platforms to feature corporate content for mobiles and PCs.  With Entprises apps main goals being to: enhance company productivity, encourage brand loyalty and increase brand awareness – it’s no wonder the markets revenues are expected to reach $50m in the next 4 years.  New data from Gartner indicates that 25% of businesses will have their own in-house enterprise app store by 2017. Gartner says that,   “the portals will feature corporate approved apps for mobiles and PCs designed to enhance control over the apps that employees are using.”    Seriously? Ian Finley VP of research at Gartner went on to futher say,   “Apps downloaded from public app stores for mobile devices disrupt IT security, application and procurement strategies. Bring your own application (BYOA) has become as important as bring your own device (BYOD) in the development of a comprehensive mobile strategy, and the trend toward BYOA has begun to affect desktop and web applications as well.   “Enterprise...

How Mobile is Changing Valentines Day [INFOGRAPHIC]

How Mobile is Changing Valentines Day [INFOGRAPHIC]

Ah, Valentines Day.  The day where we can all pretend that materials equate to love.  The day we can all embrace our most signifcant other and tell them, “Every kiss begins with Kay” *while winking at them in a hinting manner*.  The day that hopefully the first two sentences are completely un-true and materialistic fulfillment from presents is instead trumped by presence, compassion, and thoughtfulness.   Today, we’re not going to get into any of that – because frankly, I’m not much of a Romance Novel type.  What will we will instead be talking and taking a look at it is how Mobile makes up 62% of restaraunt-related searches on Valentines Day.  How Mobile is really affecting our every-day lives (including the ones created solely for the purposes of increasing profits in an off season).  And how just last year mobile grew 359% between February 7th and 14th.   Thanks to the folks at MobiStealth, we have this great Infographic to present to you.  ...

What Big Brands Can Teach You About Increasing Your Apps Revenue

What Big Brands Can Teach You About Increasing Your Apps Revenue

Launching an app is only the first step to success. You may have gained a few thousand new users but without knowing who these people are and how they use your app, you are basically shooting in the dark. Big brands however, use data-mining techniques to increase revenues by spotting trends, tailoring advertising campaigns to target specific customer segments and identifying the most productive social medium for promotional efforts.   Let’s talk about 3 Ways hidden data in your app can help you. Before we jump into though, I want you to understand why it’s important to study your apps users. If most of your customers come from Brazil, then you can target Brazilian blogs, South American magazines and local newspapers in the country. Similarly, a large female client demographic profile should have you thinking about advertising on Pinterest, targeting blogs that deal with raising children or running ads in popular women’s magazines. Let’s look at an example like The North Face, popular among outdoors enthusiasts, mountain climbers and...

Google aims to have self-driving cars in next 5 years

Google aims to have self-driving cars in next 5 years

Despite the optimism, the company faces tough challenges from regulators and insurance companies before it can be put into production, with safety concerns and other legalities being the main stumbling points. Makes sense, I mean – how do you insure a robot driving a car? What if my robot car – driver, crashes into your robot – car – driver? Who’s to blaim? Maybe there was a glitch? In any case, Anthony Levandowski, a product manager at Google working on the project said,   “the company hopes that the system’s improvement on society could lead to cars that drive safer than people do,”   Dan Smith the associate administrator for vehicle safety at the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said,   “the agency would need to create new standards for self driving cards, as well as a methodology for testing.”   The driving systems would have to work out what to do if a part of the car breaks while in transit, (not like as a human we...
