Top 10 Apps in the US | Top Grossing and Top Downloads

Top 10 Apps in the US | Top Grossing and Top Downloads

App Annie has released its latest findings for Top Ranking Apps in the US for Downloads and Top Grossing.  They have a couple charts for both Google Play and the Apple App Store.   See below.   Appstore Top Apps     Needless to say, going from Paid to Free always boosts downloads.  If users can save a buck, they’re going to do it.  Especially when the average cost per download in the App-Store is..well, $1.  This was the case for Sky Safari. Their temporary move to free pushed its rankings higher — and they continue to stay high, despite now switching back to being a paid app.   Another noteworthy app riding the trends of the viral sensation Gangnam Style, is: Gangnam Dancebooth which has made its way into spot #4.     As for Top Grossing, Clash of Clans continues to dominate the rest of the freemium based apps out there.  I’m guessing it has to do with them updating their Avatar to include a Santa hat. ...

Angry Birds – The Movie | Rovio said to be producing and financing very own Angry Birds feature film

An Angry Birds Feature Film   The real question is:  Do we really need one?   If you’re over the age of 10, then you might be thinking, “enough is enough..seriously, these angry birds are making me angry” If not, then you’re probably becoming ecstatic with the mere thought that something could be coming in less than 3 years.   Here’s the deal..   Rovio (the creators of Angry Birds) announced that it will be producing and financing a feature film about none other than the notorious Angry Birds.  Rovio recently brought John Cohen (producer of Despicable Me) and David Maisel who was formerly the chairman of Marvel Studios where he was the executive producer for Iron man.   The anticipated arrival date for the film is in the summer of 2016 ( 3 years from now).   Additionally, Rovio has embarked on a mission to build hundreds of activity and theme parks around the world.  Rovio claims to be following Marvel Studios’ example in producing and financing films outside...

iPhone 5s Analysts Predictions

iPhone 5s Analysts Predictions

“Apple will release an iPhone 5S in June, a break from the pattern it’s established over the last two years”   said Jeffries analyst Peter Misek in a note this morning.   Other predictions Misek has are..   There will be new:   super HD camera/screen improved battery life NFC (near field communication)   with a possibility of..   IGZO screen for Retina+ 128GB storage and a variant of new colors (6-8 to be exact) There is also speculation and rumors already going around about the iPhone 6, sources saying,   “Several iPhone 6 prototypes appear to be floating around. The model with a 4.8″ screen is the most interesting. It has a Retina+ IGZO screen, a new A7 quad-core processor variant, and a new form factor with no home button. Full gesture control is also possibly included.”   Whether much, or any of the latter portion of this is true or not has yet to be confirmed as you may guess – for technology analaysts it’s very hard to predict...

Prepare for the “Power Week”

Prepare for the “Power Week”

This is as Flurry refers to, as the week between Christmas and New Year which last year saw 1.2 billion app downloads across iOS and Android. Additionally, Flurry tracked the activation of 20 million new devices in this period.   This year it’s expected that 2 BILLION apps will be downloaded in this ‘Power Week’. The problem is..   Unless you’re loaded with $ you’re going to have a slim chance of getting to the Top of the Charts. According to Richard Firminger, European MD of mobile analytics and advertising outfit Flurry,   “The US top 10 is not as important as it used to be,”   Evidently the top 10 US apps and games only account for 29% of global sessions. This has dropped significantly from 49% where it was last year in 2011. On a positive note, (for China and Russia at least) the market continues growing rapidly with the number of smart devices in these countries up 200% year over year. Firminger went on to say,...
