When traveling, your smartphone could seem like the most important thing in existence. Even more so than money, keys, or food. This dependency consumers have created has resulted in some interesting statistics put together for us by Buzz City. Mainly, when leaving the house, and on the go – people’s phone are of the highest priority. Close to 65% say they use their device to check email both before and during travel. 69% use their device to listen to music, watch videos, read emails, and engage with social media every-day during commuting. Saturday afternoon, and nothing to do eh? Well, maybe you could start off your day by watching this AMAZINGly well thought out Domino sequence by the folks at Aatma Studios. What you may be surprised to realize is that all these phones are actually CG (computer generated). So, yeah – the company didn’t actually go out and BUY 10,000 iPhone 5’s, (that certainly wouldn’t be cheap). CEO Pramod Modi Shantharam said, “Except for the first iPhone that is set off, every other phone you see is computer generated,” “We modeled, animated and rendered the CG phone where the footage was first motion-tracked and the CG phone was composited over...

A new report from mobile marketing platform Swirl has surveyed 1,000 US female smartphone owners, to discover that while 53% may have up to 5 shopping apps on their device, they still prefer the real world in-store experience. In fact, 76% prefer shopping for clothes and shoes in traditional bricks and mortar stores. The data imposes that brands need to strengthen their in-store mobile offerings instead of solely focusing their effort on devices. With only 1% of women that prefer to buy threads via mobile apps and sites, one would think this wouldn’t even need to be mentioned. Swirl CEO Hilmi Ozguc had this to say, “Women overwhelmingly...

Certainly big news for developers who’ve been trying to leverage the feature in the past to no avail. Today at Facebook’s Mobile Dev Con in NYC they’ve announced their “next evolution of Facebook Platform for mobile”. Just like when Facebook transitioned from HTML5 to Native, the company is making a similar transition with the Facebook Platform for Mobile. With its already massive reach on mobile, Facebook stated: more than 81% of the top 100 grossing iOS apps and more than 70% of the top 100 grossing Android apps integrate with Facebook. But they don’t want to just stop there, the company wants to push even better apps to hundreds of...

App Annie is out with its latest quarterly index for iOS VS Google Play revenue and downloads. With the unstoppable growth of the App Economy the U.S. still leads for iOS App Store revenue growth, while Japan and South Korea take it home for Google Play. Last quarter alone Google Play reached close to 90% of the iOS App Store downloads, although the iOS App Store maintained the lead in monetization, earning about 2.6x the app revenue of Google Play. This is however less than it was in Q4 of 2012 which was at roughly 4x overall. Between the two App Stores, several countries made their mark for...

At least that’s what the ‘word on the street is’. And.. maybe also according to Google CEO Eric Schmidt, where Android could soon be boasting more than 1 billion users in the next 6-9 months. Who at the Mobile World Live conference also said, “The two billion mark could be met within a year or two.” Schmidt also stated that there are currently over 750 million android devices in use today, and an additional 1.5 million activation’s every day. If that is the case, then it will be interesting to see how Apple’s alleged iPhone 5s (or cheaper iPhone) perform in the emerging markets while Google aims to deliver a similar low...

Jesus. That’s the first thing that comes to mind when I hear about this news. $2.4 Million a day. Really? Not bad. Actually, that’s awesome. Supercell (the creators of Clash of Clans) is said to be the fastest growing game company ever. This figure comes from an interview Supercell CEO Ikka Paananen had with Forbes where the company was valued at $800 million. Seeing as they just raised an additional $130 Million, grossed $100 million in revenue last year in Q4, and already made $179 million in Q1 of 2013 – it goes without saying, they’re doing something right. At this rate by the end of 2013, some predict...
