Tapfame Gives Developers Street Cred
After months of working on your big project you’ve finally delivered it to your client and you ask yourself, “Gee – What’s next?”. For many developers that may be the end of things. ..BUT what if instead you were able to take this project you’ve recently completed and have it visible and open for the world to see what you’ve labored so long over?
That’s where Tapfame comes in.
TapFame is where mobile developers and designers get credit for the apps they’ve built. Their mission is to make it easy for you to showcase your work, learn about new mobile technologies and find other mobile developers to work with and collaborate with.
Founded by Ankit Ranka and Satjot Sawhney, the two came together with a common goal of ‘giving developers the tools they needed to succeed’. In a recent interview with Co-Founder Ankit, I had the opportunity to ask him several questions about: how the company got started, Tapfames goals, and why Tapfame is critical for app developers to know about.
See below.
1) How did you and your co-founder come about the idea to develop Tapfame?
We stumbled upon this idea when we were working on a mobile SDK to launch contests in apps. While we were selling this SDK to app developers everyone was asking whether we could introduce them to an app developer. We made a lot of intros over email. When we hit a wall on our SDK product we thought why not just make it easier for mobile developers to showcase their work so people can easily find them. The great thing about mobile apps is that all the information is already available publicly so it will be quick to create portfolios and they could easily be sent to anyone looking for an app developer. We hacked a basic version at a hackathon and everyone loved it and we decided to pursue this.
2) What is your long term goal and hope for how you believe Tapfame can contribute to the app industry?
We are in a unique position to surface the talent behind the millions of apps already built and the millions more to come. We are getting there by being the best place where app developers can showcase their work and find other developers to collaborate with. For eg. Andrew Farmer’s portfolio, Dustin Dettmer’s portfolio. Developers are the most important asset of app industry and we are serving them.
3) Why do you feel there is such a need for TapFame, yet alone why would developers want to use it?
App developers lack a way to showcase their work and have social proof in the community. We surface their talent and help them get noticed by both other developers and businesses. Visual portfolios on TapFame help users learn more about the technology and people behind the apps and instantly gives developers credibility.
