Facebook Announces Update to Mobile App Install Ad Unit – Mobile App Marketing

So then, what the heck does that mean to you? Well, as an advertiser – this means you can more quickly and conveniently create mobile app ads with just a few clicks. This means that Advertisers can now create a mobile app install ad just by writing their copy and providing their app’s URL on the App Store or Google Play. This new process also makes it easier for developers to get their ad up and running by removing the step of first having to register their app with Facebook. According to Fiksu who reported on the changes earlier this week, and also happens to be big fans of Facebook’s Mobile Install Ads, “In our opinion, the Facebook mobile app install ad unit provides a great, granular way for advertisers to effectively reach the highly qualified Facebook audience of over 750 million mobile users.” also adding, “To date, the best results we have seen from the Facebook mobile app install ad unit have been derived from consistently optimizing and...

The Secrets to ranking on the Google Play Store | Revealed

The Secrets to ranking on the Google Play Store | Revealed

We’re going to jump right into the deep end today.  The differentiations about ranking on Google Play vs Ranking on Apple.  This article is based on an interview that had been conducted with the folks from W3i and Nate Dykstra. First question: How do Google Play’s and Apple’s ranking algorithms vary? The key in Google Play is quality. Having taken a lot of heat in their early days for having apps that were extremely lacking in regards to quality; this method allows them to hold developers accountable if the want to see success on the platform.   Google Plays ranking algorithm seems a lot more calculated than Apple’s seeing as they take into account variables that date back ot the initial launch date of the apps (that means 4+ years for some).  Meanwhile Apple is believed to calculate their rankings based on more ‘real-time’ data measuring only a few days back, this is what enables media buys (paid promotion) to have such immediate influence.   As of late, Google has begun...

What Will iOS 7’s “Near Me” Mean to Developers?

What Will iOS 7’s “Near Me” Mean to Developers?

First of all, I think this just goes to show that Apple clearly has no idea how to handle the MASSIVE amount of Apps that its platform is taking on every-single-day.  I mean, with over 900,000 Apps on iOS – and $10 Billion paid out to developers to say it’s a “hot market” is grossly under-stated – but I digress. “Near Me” which replaces the former, “Genius”‘s spot front and center (see image below) will, (in my eyes) provide a tremendous opportunity for local small and medium sized businesses looking to promote their apps across a given local. Additionally, it could also provide considerable value for dealers, franchise businesses, large retailers, and chains that want to reach consumers in particular areas. When it comes to how “Near Me” will affect ASO (App Store Optimization), whether it will help or hinder – is still yet to be determined. I do however see this as an incredible opportunity for developers who understand the idea of ‘developing for local markets’. Undoubtedly, for...

CPE Campaigns dominate CPI, and Rival Organic says nativeX

CPE Campaigns dominate CPI, and Rival Organic says nativeX

To determine the quality of users from various ad types, nativeX set-up a test to measure the retention rate for a 7 Day Cost per Install (CPI) campaign and Cost per Engagement (CPE) campaign to a segmented audience. The campaigns ran consecutively.  The difference between a CPI campaign and a CPE campaign is that with CPI an advertiser pays per every user install, whereas an advertiser on a CPE campaign only pays when the user installs and completes a specific action.  In this case, nativeX’s  CPE campaign required the user to install and complete a testimonial.   To prove their hypothesis of CPE campaigns attracting and retaining users better than CPI campaigns, nativeX ran a test on a popular freemium Android RPG called Little Dragons. The campaign was setup with half as CPI and the other half with a segmented CPE campaign where the user was required to install the game and complete the tutorial. The testwas  geo-targeted to users in the US, UK, and Canada. Prior to the...
