$47K/day Is How Much Your App Has to Gross to Make it into the Top 50.

$47K/day Is How Much Your App Has to Gross to Make it into the Top 50.

A new report from app analytics company Distimo recently revealed that an app (on average) must make $47,000 per-day to break into the App Store’s top ten in top grossing apps. The report also observes that a top 10 paid app generally averages about 4,000 downloads per day, while a top 10 free app averages about 72,000 downloads per day. Apps that break into the top 50 in the top grossing charts average earnings of $12,000 each day for iPhone apps, and $10,200 for iPad apps. In related news, Apple has begun introducing new pricing tiers in some of the international App Stores. For instance, a new .99-cent Euro price has been introduced in European countries, while a number of other countries have seen changes, as...

Apple App Store Celebrates 5 Years

Apple App Store Celebrates 5 Years

And what better way to celebrate than creating a timeline of milestones that represent noteable moments in Apple’s history.  The timeline was sent to members of the media including: The Financial Times’ Tim Bradshaw. This is similar to what Apple did earlier this year by sending out a celebratory memento for iTune Stores 10th anniversary in existence. With that being said, Apple launching a similar site for the App Store’s 5th anniversary on July 10th wouldn’t be too far...

iOS 7 VS iOS 6 – Icon Differences and Disappointments [INFOGRAPHIC]

iOS 7 VS iOS 6 – Icon Differences and Disappointments [INFOGRAPHIC]

I have to admit. I’m a little disappointed with iOS 7. Now, whenever I look at my phone I’ll feel like a young teenage girl who should be rocking out to Katy Perry, Carlie Rae Jepson, or Taylor Swift. While the update at WWDC 2013 was certainly well received by the audience this year around, I have to ask myself – again, and again, “Will I still be able to walk around with this thing in hand and feel straight?” There is a big difference as to what teenage girls should be interested in, as to grown men. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, or haven’t seen things in their entirety, you may want to take a look at two things. The first of which, is Apple’s keynote on iOS 7. Then second, the image (thanks to pawsupforu) below – enjoy.Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not hatin’ I’m just sayin’  I’m sure some people out there will find this to be the most fabulous operating system they’ve ever...

Apple Finally Lets Developers Sell Their Apps

Apple Finally Lets Developers Sell Their Apps

Previously, the only way of doing this type of thing was through Apptopia. But now, for the first time since the app store launched in 2008, Apple is going to be providing an official means for app developers to sell their titles on to others. The new policy, that was pushed out earlier this week to registered developers described of a way to “allow the transfer of ownership of an app from one developer to another, with user reviews, ratings, leaderboards and updates all remaining intact.” The problem with the old way is that, it left existing users with an old version of the app and perhaps unbeknownst of the new release. This left many developers who were looking for an exit standing by their releases. These changes could indeed spark a new trend that has a number of apps change hands and, longterm, could very well change the nature of business throughout the App Store ecosystem. Imagine. Seeing acquisitions (solely within the app ecoystem) of up-and-coming apps like...

Apple to Open New San Francisco Store in Union Square

Apple to Open New San Francisco Store in Union Square

While this is hardly news I care to write about at all, I only am because I just went to the Apple Store on Stockton and Ellis last Saturday and am likely going to GO BACK because my freaking’ iPhone 5 power button is broken (thanks Apple). Evidently they’re going to have to swap the whole device, got it covered so no biggy. First spotted by AllThingsD, Apple said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to be working with the city of San Francisco on a new Apple retail store at Union Square…. Our store on Stockton Street has welcomed over 13 million customers since it opened nine years ago, and we look forward to serving them in an amazing new location when this project is complete.” The new building is said to give Apple 45% more space than its current location, will add about 50 jobs (on-top of its current 350 employees), and look cooler.   Judging by the renders, Apple is looking to move forward with a more modern...
